The Strategic Projects Lead will coordinate and run national events to raise awareness about Islamophobia and its impacts, encouraging community solidarity and support. The Strategic Projects Lead will be pivotal in developing the forward-thinking plan for OSECI, coordinating efforts – primarily programs or projects – to combat Islamophobia across the OSECI office, with the Department of Home Affairs, other government departments, and broader society.
Key responsibilities

- Coordinate and align work across the OSECI office; governments at the Federal and State levels; international stakeholders; private sector organisations; and non-governmental organisations.
- Provide advice on complex and sensitive issues, influence stakeholders, and drive outcomes through project and program delivery, policy direction, and stakeholder management.
- Operating under broad direction, scan the environment, anticipate emerging issues, and translate complex developments into clear, strategic advice and practical program management and responses to drive national outcomes.
- Ensure project effectiveness and program performance—evaluating outcomes, identifying critical success factors, and adapting approaches to ensure delivery of results.
- Identify and manage risks, including escalation where necessary.
- Prepare high-quality written materials, including briefs and reports.
- Support the Special Envoy with clear and actionable advice.
- Contribute to frameworks, process improvement, and methodologies.
- Interstate travel and supporting the Special Envoy at external forums as required.
About you
- Full time availability – 8 hours per day, 5 days per week.
- Tertiary qualifications in Project or Program Management, Communications, Business Processes or related fields.
- Demonstrated experience in government or non-government planning, programs and coordination.
- Demonstrated experience working across a range of varying key stakeholder groups – building and maintaining relationships within a fast-paced environment with tact and resilience.
- Demonstrated experience in coordination, program management and/or project management.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in times of intense external scrutiny.
- High level cultural competency, professionalism, and sensitivity when engaging with diverse communities and stakeholders.
- Proven ability to undertake complex research and analysis, with attention to detail, and translate findings into clear, evidence-based advice and program responses.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including the preparation of high-level briefings, submissions, and reports.
- Australian citizen with ability to obtain or currently hold a Baseline (Protected) security clearance.
