What they need

About the role

The Strategy & Insights Manager will support the CEO and serve as Mighty Oaks Foundation's organisational lead and key contact for strategy and insights. You will turn research, evidence and programme learning into insights that inform strategy, strengthen funding applications and raise the quality of what the Foundation delivers. You will work across the organisation: supporting the CEO on strategy, partnering with the Programmes team on content and training, and strengthening capacity to recruit, onboard, train and engage volunteers.

Key responsibilities

Research, insights and thought leadership

  • Lead research and insights agenda, covering ageing, intergenerational engagement, arts-based practice and emotional well-being.
  • Track sector research, policy and funding trends in Hong Kong and internationally, and brief the CEO and team on implications.
  • Own the impact measurement framework, and analyse programme data and feedback to produce clear findings on outcomes and impact.
  • Develop the Foundation's point of view through position papers, impact summaries, articles and case studies.
  • Scope how the Foundation will share its knowledge and practice with the wider sector for the 5-year plan.
  • Maintain an organised library of research, impact data and reusable content.

Volunteer recruitment, engagement and capacity building

  • Develop and strengthen volunteer recruitment, onboarding and training approach, working with the CEO, Programmes team and external consultants as appropriate.
  • Coordinate implementation across volunteer recruitment, onboarding and training, including outreach materials, schedules, delivery resources and clear processes for internal teams.
  • Monitor volunteer recruitment, participation, training effectiveness and retention, using feedback and data to refine the approach each cycle.

Programme and training content

  • Support the Programmes team in drafting and reviewing programme curricula, facilitator guides and training materials.
  • Ensure materials are evidence-informed, consistent in quality and available in both Chinese and English.
  • Feed research findings and participant feedback back into programme design.

Support Grant writing and presentations

  • Support the Head of Programmes and Programme Manager on grant writing when needed.
  • Supply impact data and narrative for funder reports.
  • Lead on the Foundation's key presentations, preparing or reviewing them as required.

As part of a lean team

  • Support Foundation events and activities as required, with evening and weekend work expected.
  • Provide cover for other roles when needed.
  • Uphold safeguarding standards for seniors and students.

About you

  • Bachelor's degree in social sciences, public policy, gerontology, education, psychology, arts management or a related discipline.

  • At least five years' relevant experience in research, strategy, programme evaluation or grant development.

  • Proven ability to design and carry out qualitative and quantitative research, and to turn findings into clear recommendations.

  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with a track record of reports, proposals or published pieces.

  • Confident presenter, able to explain evidence to funders, partners and non-specialist audiences.

  • Confident user of digital and AI tools for research, analysis and drafting.

  • Fluent in spoken Cantonese and English, and in written Traditional Chinese and English.

  • Previous experience in an NGO or the social service sector (preferred).

  • Master's degree in education (preferred).

  • Experience writing successful grant applications to foundations, trusts or government funds in Hong Kong (preferred).

  • Experience designing and delivering training for volunteers or frontline staff (preferred).
