Structural BIM Modeler (AU Experience)

We are seeking a detail-driven Structural BIM Modeller to deliver 3D modelling and 2D detail drawing support for prefabrication and modular construction across multiple concurrent projects.

This role is responsible for generating, editing, and detailing structural steel items within shared models, developing custom families, extracting material take-offs, and conducting clash detection to ensure seamless pre-assembly and site installation.

Key Responsibilities

• Structural Steel & Prefab Modelling: Model and edit structural steel items (main members, bracing, purlins, mesh grating, handrails, skids, connections, and baseplates) within shared Revit models.
• Drawing Production & Tender Support: Produce clean plan, section, isometric, and detail drawings for prefabricated designs; generate preliminary concept models from engineering sketches for supplier engagement and tendering.
• Family Development & Standardization: Create and maintain custom Revit families and standard details for common prefabrication and modular steel elements.
• Quantity Extraction & Scheduling: Extract accurate material quantities and generate schedules from Revit models for steel, grating, purlins, and secondary structural components.
• Clash Detection & Coordination: Perform clash detection and buildability reviews; synchronize models regularly to support weekly BIM coordination cycles; collaborate closely with Design Managers and site teams.

Job Requirements

Non-Negotiable Core Requirements

• Software Mastery:
• Minimum 3+ years of advanced hands-on experience in Autodesk Revit modelling and drafting.
• Practical experience utilizing Tekla Structures or Autodesk Inventor .
• Proficiency in Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Excel .
• Structural Steel Experience: Minimum 3+ years of direct drafting and modelling experience on Structural Steel projects .
• Services & Fabrication Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of mechanical building services (HVAC and plumbing) and their associated prefabrication requirements.
• Australian Industry Standards: Strong familiarity with Australian construction terminology , drafting conventions, and building practices.
