Structural Design Engineer

We are seeking a motivated Structural Design Engineer to join our expanding team in Newmarket, Auckland. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are passionate about product design and eager to advance their careers in a fast-paced, challenging, and rewarding industry.

As a member of our project team, you will develop aircraft interior design ideas from concept to fully engineered products that comply with aircraft certification standards and able to be manufactured, installed, and operated on Boeing or Airbus aircraft.

Key responsibilities

• Interpreting structural design and certification requirements and determining pathways for showing compliance.
• Supporting a cross-functional team of design engineers to achieve innovative design solutions for airline customers.
• Design development.
• Analysis of loads and stresses, including Finite Element Analysis.
• Structural test plan writing including designing of appropriate test configurations and setups.
• Certification analysis and compliance report writing.
• Analysis to optimise structural efficiency and weight.
• Improve manufacturability and cost-effectiveness of designs

About you

• Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical/Aeronautical)
• 3 plus years of experience in structural/mechanical design and analysis.
• Experience with stress analysis of metallic materials and composites, including Finite Element Analysis.
• Excellent skills in writing technical reports.
• Interest in product design, preferably with skills in 3D CAD tools
• Experience in aviation or aircraft systems (preferred but not essential)
• Commitment to professional standards and the development of relevant skills in a highly regulated industry.
• Decisive and self-starting attitude with energy and motivation to be effective in a demanding environment.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with a commitment to being part of a team-oriented organisation focused on continuous improvement, and able to work in an open manner.
• Appropriate rights to live and work in New Zealand.
