Structural Design Engineer

About the role

Our client is a leading engineering consultancy supporting major mining, minerals processing, and industrial infrastructure projects across Australia is seeking a Structural Design Engineer (intermediate). This role will be responsible for the structural design and analysis of a broad range of brownfield and greenfield projects, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver safe, practical, and cost-effective engineering solutions. The successful candidate will play a key role in producing structural engineering deliverables throughout project phases, from concept and feasibility studies through to detailed design and construction support.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake structural design and analysis for steel, concrete, and reinforced concrete structures particularly conveyor structural.
• Prepare structural calculations, design reports, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Develop and review structural drawings, models, and engineering deliverables.
• Perform structural assessments and modifications for existing facilities and infrastructure.
• Liaise with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure integrated design solutions.
• Provide technical support during procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
• Conduct site inspections and support field engineering activities as required.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant Australian Standards, client specifications, and industry best practices.
• Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and constructability workshops.
• Deliver projects in accordance with quality, safety, cost, and schedule requirements.

About you

• 2 - 5 years of working experience in structural design engineering in mining or resources

• Degree qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering.

• Chartered status (CPEng) or progress towards chartership preferred.

• Strong knowledge of Australian design codes and standards.

• Experience in brownfield and greenfield project environments.

• Proficiency with structural analysis and design software.

• Ability to prepare structural calculations, reports, and technical specifications.

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

• Proven ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.

• Structural design of plant, processing facilities, material handling infrastructure, substations, or industrial buildings.
