Structural Design Engineer

Position Overview

Atovee Steel Constructions Contracting LLC is looking for a dynamic and innovative Structural Design Engineer specializing in structural steel design to join our expanding engineering division.

In this role, you will lead structural analysis, design optimization, and technical coordination for high-value steel projects-ranging from industrial warehouses and commercial portal frames to complex mezzanine systems. The ideal candidate brings strong engineering fundamentals, sharp analytical skills in STAAD.Pro, and a proven track record in the UAE construction market.

Key Responsibilities

• Structural Analysis & Design: Perform rigorous 3D modeling, structural analysis, and member/connection designs for primary and secondary steel framing systems.
• Value Engineering: Optimize structural steel tonnage to deliver cost-effective, material-efficient, and structurally safe solutions without compromising performance.
• Software Mastery: Utilize STAAD.Pro as the primary design tool alongside complementary software for connection design, foundation checks, and load evaluations.
• Technical Submittals & Calculations: Prepare comprehensive design calculation packages, structural reports, and material specifications for authority and consultant approvals.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with site project managers, Tekla/AutoCAD detailers, and estimation teams to bridge design intent with site execution.
• Authority Compliance: Ensure full compliance with Dubai Municipality / UAE local authority regulations, as well as international codes (AISC, BS, Eurocodes).

Required Qualifications & Key Skills

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil / Structural Engineering from a recognized institution.
• Experience: Minimum 3 years of dedicated structural design experience with a strong focus on steel structures in the UAE/GCC region.
• Software Expertise Mandatory in STAAD.Pro.
• Preferred: Familiarity with ETABS, SAFE, IDEA StatiCa, RAM Connection, AutoCAD, or Tekla Structures.
• Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of steel connection modeling (moment/shear connections), base plate design, wind load analysis, and seismic requirements.
• Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving capabilities, clear technical communication, and the ability to handle tight design submittal deadlines.
