• Supervisory responsibilities: Guides drafters and interns and reviews their work for accuracy
• Travel: Project site visits and inspections. The firm's projects span the country, beyond Arizona.

Description We are seeking a Structural Designer (EIT) with 2+ years of post-graduate experience to join a small, growing structural engineering firm based in Flagstaff, Arizona. Working closely with the team under the supervision of a project manager or principal, this role implements structural engineering design standards on assigned projects, from design calculations and drafting to construction drawings for PE seal, site visits and coordination with clients, contractors and consulting engineers.

The ideal candidate is an EIT with a degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering and 2+ years of structural engineering experience in the Southwest or Rocky Mountain region, comfortable in AutoCAD, RISA and Revit. Projects cover residential, commercial and industrial buildings across the country, and the firm supports each designer's path toward PE licensure as it grows.

Duties / Tasks to perform

• Implement structural engineering design standards on assigned projects, collaborating closely with team members under the supervision of a project manager or principal.
• Prepare engineering design calculations.
• Complete drafting tasks to support the design.
• Guide drafters and interns, reviewing their work for accuracy.
• Prepare construction drawings for sealing by a Professional Engineer.
• Use available technology and engineering resources efficiently to meet product and customer requirements.
• Develop practical solutions to construction and design related issues.
• Review third party reports and drawings, including project shop drawings.
• Interact with external consulting engineers and clients.
• Help develop value engineering strategies.
• Attend project site visits and inspections with clients, contractors, project managers and others.
• Build your technical knowledge in preparation for Professional Engineer licensure and position advancement.

Requirements

• College degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering.
• 2+ years of technical experience after graduation.
• 2+ years of post-graduate experience in a structural engineering department in the Southwest or Rocky Mountain region.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, including drafting principles, and Microsoft Office.
• Experience with RISA and Revit.
• Solid and current understanding of engineering principles and drafting procedures.
• Ability to manage a workload of simultaneous projects with varying complexity and deadlines.
• Good communication and organizational skills.

Licenses & Certifications

• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
