About the Role
We are looking for a Structural Dynamics Engineer to lead and direct spacecraft vibration testing.
This role focuses on defining, directing, and validating swept sine vibration testing of spacecraft. The successful candidate will work closely with structural dynamics and environmental test teams to ensure spacecraft meet critical launch and mission requirements.
This is an engineering-led Test Director position, not a laboratory shaker operator role .
Key Responsibilities
- Define sine vibration test levels, instrumentation requirements, and test procedures.
- Author vibration test plans and serve as Test Director during spacecraft testing.
- Lead Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs) and coordinate with test laboratory teams.
- Implement response limiting, force limiting, and vibration notching strategies.
- Validate vibration test data, including pre- and post-test low-level overlay plots.
- Analyze results and prepare technical test reports.
- Collaborate with spacecraft integration, structural analysis, and engineering teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Ideally 6+ years of experience in structural dynamics or spacecraft vibration testing.
- Direct experience with sine, swept sine, or sinusoidal vibration testing .
- Experience authoring test plans, defining test levels, and directing vibration tests.
- Understanding of vibration control, accelerometers, instrumentation, and data acquisition.
- Knowledge of notching, response limiting, force limiting, and vibration data validation .
- Proficiency in MATLAB, Excel, and structural dynamics principles.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate across engineering teams.
Preferred Experience
- Spacecraft or small satellite environmental qualification testing.
- Experience as a Vibration Test Director or Test Conductor.
- Random vibration, acoustic, or shock testing.
- Structural dynamics analysis and Nastran/FEA .
- Master's degree in Structural Dynamics or a related field.
Why Join?
Play a critical role in spacecraft qualification testing, work alongside experienced structural dynamics engineers, and contribute to next-generation satellite technology.
