Structural Engineer

Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Structural Engineer to support our luxury residential design-build projects in California.

We are seeking a detail-oriented engineer with strong experience in residential structural design, engineering calculations, construction documents, and plan coordination.

Responsibilities

• Provide structural engineering support for custom residential construction and remodeling projects
• Review architectural plans and develop structural solutions
• Prepare and review structural plans, details, and calculations
• Design and analyze structural systems including foundations, beams, columns, framing, shear walls, and other structural components
• Coordinate structural plans with architectural, MEP, and other consultant drawings
• Review existing structures and provide recommendations for remodels and additions
• Identify structural conflicts and constructability issues
• Assist with permit and plan-check comments
• Coordinate with architects, designers, contractors, and other consultants
• Participate in project meetings and provide structural recommendations
• Review field conditions and assist with structural issues that arise during construction
• Ensure designs comply with applicable California building codes and project requirements clarity for project proposals, construction phases, and regulatory submissions.
• Provide construction support through site visits, inspections, and troubleshooting to ensure structural integrity during implementation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Professional experience in structural engineering and design
• Experience with residential construction, preferably luxury custom homes
• Strong understanding of structural engineering principles and building codes
• Experience with California residential projects preferred
• Ability to read and coordinate architectural and structural drawings
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or structural engineering software
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously through effective project scheduling and project management skills.
• Excellent communication skills for client interaction and technical writing; ability to present complex concepts clearly.
• Construction experience including site inspections and understanding of construction practices enhances project success.

Preferred

• California PE license
• Experience with high-end custom residential projects
• Experience with additions, remodels, and complex residential structures
• Experience working with California jurisdictions and permitting requirements
• Design-build experience
• Familiarity with structural plan-check and permitting processes

Pay: $96,268.13 - $115,935.81 per year
