This role offers an exciting opportunity to apply your technical expertise and project management skills to deliver safe, sustainable, efficient, and cost-effective structural solutions. You will work collaboratively with architects, civil engineers, contractors, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of complex building and infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with architects, civil engineers, contractors, clients, and other stakeholders to coordinate project requirements, designs, and deliverables.
- Undertake structural analysis for a range of structural systems, including steel, timber, reinforced concrete, composite structures, foundations, and geotechnical elements.
- Provide technical input and support throughout all stages of projects, from concept and detailed design through to construction and completion.
- Oversee and coordinate construction activities on site, ensuring that works are carried out in accordance with approved designs, specifications, building regulations, health and safety requirements, and relevant standards.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress, verify compliance with design specifications, identify defects or technical issues, and provide timely engineering solutions.
- Coordinate and manage on-site teams, contractors, and specialist subcontractors to ensure high standards of quality, safety, and workmanship.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, including planning workflows, establishing programmes and deadlines, monitoring progress, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Review structural drawings, calculations, specifications, technical submissions, and other project documentation.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, structural calculations, design documentation, inspection reports, and project records.
- Coordinate with building control authorities and other regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with applicable building regulations and statutory requirements.
- Identify and resolve technical challenges during design and construction, providing practical, efficient, and cost-effective engineering solutions.
- Maintain a strong understanding of relevant structural codes, building regulations, health and safety requirements, and industry standards.
- Keep up to date with emerging technologies, engineering practices, materials, regulations, and sustainable design principles to continuously improve the quality and efficiency of structural solutions.
- Contribute to a culture of innovation, collaboration, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline. A Master’s degree in Structural Engineering or a related field is advantageous.
- Proven professional experience in structural engineering, preferably with significant experience in construction and site-based projects.
- Strong technical knowledge and practical experience in the design of steel, timber, reinforced concrete, composite structures, foundations, and geotechnical systems.
- Demonstrable experience in construction supervision, site coordination, inspections, and management of on-site teams.
- Strong understanding of structural engineering principles, design methodologies, and construction practices.
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant building regulations, structural design codes, health and safety legislation, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and other relevant CAD/BIM software.
- Experience using Mathcad or similar engineering calculation software for structural analysis.
- Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a practical and commercially aware approach to engineering design.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a collaborative engineering team.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of technical accuracy, quality, safety, and professional integrity.
