Structural Engineering Manager

Structural Engineering Manager | PE Required

Structural Engineering Manager to lead and grow a high-performing structural engineering team while overseeing the delivery of complex vertical building projects. This individual will provide technical leadership, mentor engineering staff, drive operational excellence, and support business development efforts while ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and in compliance with applicable codes and standards.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or Structural Engineering
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) License
• 10+ years of design experience within vertical commercial facilities (exp with different materials like timber, steel, CMU which is concrete masonry unit, and concrete)
• Proven experience leading, mentoring, and developing engineering teams
• Strong background in structural analysis, design, QA/QC, and project delivery
• Experience managing multiple concurrent projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Structural Engineer (SE) License
• Business development and client relationship experience
• Experience managing project financials, utilization, and profitability

Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management

• Provide strategic leadership for the Structural Engineering department
• Mentor and develop engineering staff through coaching, training, and professional development planning
• Evaluate team performance and identify opportunities for improvement
• Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, technical excellence, and growth
• Support resource planning and staff allocation to meet project and business demands

Structural Engineering & Project Delivery

• Lead structural design efforts for multiple concurrent projects
• Perform QA/QC reviews of structural calculations, drawings, and project deliverables
• Coordinate with internal disciplines and external stakeholders to ensure successful project execution
• Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, standards, and regulations
• Serve as a technical resource and subject matter expert for structural engineering projects

Financial & Operational Management

• Monitor project budgets, schedules, utilization, and profitability
• Participate in proposal development, fee calculations, and project planning efforts
• Review project financial performance and implement corrective actions when necessary
• Develop and maintain processes to improve efficiency, consistency, and quality

Business Development & Client Relations

• Build and maintain strong client relationships
• Participate in project pursuits, proposal efforts, and business development activities
• Identify opportunities to grow structural engineering services and expand client partnerships

Location: Milwaukee, Madison, Green Bay, WI

Open to candidates located in Chicago, IL with the ability to support Wisconsin-based teams as needed
