Structural Estimator / Project Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Structural Estimator / Project Engineer professional to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing cost estimates for erecting structural steel as well as working all project documentation.

Responsibilities

• Develop Cost Estimates for structural steel industrial projects.
• Review and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to determine material and equipment requirements.
• Estimating man-hours for Ironworkers to complete installation of the project scope of work.
• Procuring, pricing, and vetting subcontractor, fabricator, and vendor quotes
• Collaborate with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams through negotiation to secure competitive pricing and favorable terms.
• Review construction drawings regularly to identify potential issues early on and suggest cost-effective solutions that align with project goals.
• Assist in managing material procurement by estimating material requirements from blueprints and coordinating with suppliers for timely delivery.
• Project Paperwork to include safety documentation, submittals, RFI's, transmittals, lift plans, rigging diagrams, QC packages including weld and other certifications, as-builts.

Experience

• Proven experience as a construction structural steel estimator within the construction industry
• Extensive knowledge of structural steel fabrication and erection, ability to read and interpret technical drawings, and estimating material, labor and equipment requirements
• Trade work as an ironworker / structural steel preferred but not required
• Demonstrated ability to perform accurate quantity take-offs
• Solid understanding of construction site operations combined with practical construction industry experience.
• Experience with developing and submitting project documentation
• Ability to put together work plans including crane/lift plans, lookahead schedules, QC packages, RFI's, transmittals, weld certifications
• Excellent communication skills for client interactions and internal team collaboration.
• Computer skills to use basic software and send email and written communications

Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
