Structural Fitter

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Structural Fitter to join our dynamic fabrication and construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling, fitting, and installing structural components with precision and adherence to safety standards. Your mechanical expertise and ability to interpret technical drawings will be essential in ensuring the integrity and quality of our projects.

Duties

• Read and interpret detailed drawings to accurately assemble structural components.
• Measure, cut, shape, and fit metal materials such as sheet metal and structural steel using measuring instruments and shop math.
• Operate power tools, hand tools, plasma cutters, and machining equipment safely and efficiently during fabrication and assembly processes.
• Perform tack welding tasks including MIG (Metal Inert Gas) and FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding) ensuring compliance with AWS (American Welding Society) standards.
• Use cranes and other lifting equipment to position heavy components accurately on construction sites or within fabrication shops.
• Assemble fabricated parts through bolting or welding while adhering to safety protocols at all times.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following all safety procedures related to construction site work, welding operations, and the use of power tools.

Experience

• Hands-on experience in metal fabrication shops
• Demonstrated proficiency in interpreting technical drawings.
• Experience operating cranes, plasma cutters, power tools, hand tools, machining equipment, and gas metal arc welding processes.
• Knowledge of safety protocols relevant to construction sites and fabrication environments; commitment to maintaining a safe workspace.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations necessary for fabrication tasks; shop math skills are essential.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 50.0 – 65.0 per week
