This is a rare one. A well-established, multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy is looking for a Head of Engineering to lead their Structural team.
This isn't a design-desk role dressed up with a fancy title. You'll have genuine commercial and technical ownership: running the P&L, shaping strategy, mentoring the next generation of engineers, and building the client relationships that drive the business forward. You'll report directly to the Directors and have real influence over where this team goes next.

What you'll be doing:

• Leading and growing a high-performing Structural Engineering team in culture, capability, and technical delivery
• Owning the commercial side: budgets, resourcing, margins, and risk management
• Driving business growth through client relationships, networking, and identifying new opportunities
• Providing technical oversight and quality assurance across a mix of civil, commercial and residential projects
• Mentoring junior and intermediate engineers and building a genuinely collaborative practice

What you'll bring:

• CPEng status, with a tertiary engineering qualification (NZ preferred)
• Strong structural design and project management experience across civil, commercial and residential work
• Proven experience leading and operationally managing profitable engineering teams
• Solid grasp of current NZ design codes, seismic assessment practice, and MBIE guidance
• Commercial acumen and a genuine appetite for building the business, not just running it
