Structural Steel Fabricator

About the role

Petone Engineering is a well-established structural steel company based in Seaview, Lower Hutt. We deliver a wide range of commercial and infrastructure projects throughout the wider wellington region and are seeking experienced Structural Steel Fabricators to join our growing busy team.

Key responsibilities

• Fabricate and assemble structural steel components from workshop drawings
• Read and interpret fabrication and engineering drawings
• Mark out, fit up and assemble steel members and assemblies
• Carry out MIG and TIG welding to required standards
• Operate fabrication equipment and machinery safely and efficiently
• Complete work to quality and production requirements
• Work closely with supervisors, leading hands and other team members
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe work environment
• Follow company quality assurance and health and safety procedures

About you

• Minimum 2 years' relevant structural steel fabrication experience and/or a relevant trade qualification
• Proven ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings
• Experience fabricating structural steel assemblies
• Competent welding skills
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements
• Reliable, self-motivated, physically fit and capable of safely carrying out the manual handling requirements of a structural steel fabrication workshop
• Legal right to work in New Zealand or eligible to obtain a suitable work visa
