Structures Technician Training Program

Launch a hands‑on aviation career—with pay, benefits, and a future.

Looking for a career change that starts paying off immediately and grows into something long‑term? The Structures Technician Training Program (STTP) at MHIRJ is more than a training program—it’s a direct pathway into a respected career in aviation maintenance.

This paid apprenticeship program is designed for individuals who are mechanically curious, hands‑on problem solvers, and ready to commit to learning a skilled trade. Those who successfully complete the Academy are positioned to continue employment with MHIRJ and build a long‑term aviation career.

Why this program matters:

Aircraft structures are critical to safety, performance, and reliability. Sheet metal technicians play a vital role in keeping aircraft flying safely around the world. The STTP gives you the foundation, mentorship, and real‑world exposure needed to enter this high‑demand field—without prior aviation experience. MHIRJ invests in you from day one, providing paid training, full benefits, and industry‑recognized skills.

What you’ll learn:

The Academy is a comprehensive, hands‑on training program led by experienced aviation professionals. Training focuses on real‑world application—not classrooms alone.

As a Structures Academy Apprentice, you’ll be introduced to:

  • Aviation maintenance fundamentals
  • Aerospace safety standards and compliance
  • Use of aerospace hand tools and precision equipment
  • Non‑destructive testing concepts
  • Hands‑on structural (sheet metal) repair techniques
  • How to read, follow, and execute work using technical instructions and checklists

The program is well‑suited for individuals who enjoy working with their hands, value precision, and want to build a tangible, respected skillset.

Pay, Schedule, and Expectations:

  • Hourly pay during training, plus full benefits
  • Training schedule: Monday–Thursday, 6:30 AM–5:00 PM
  • After completion, candidates must be comfortable with shift work
  • MHIRJ is a 24/7 operation
  • 12‑hour shifts including days, nights, and weekends

Reliability, flexibility, and attendance are essential throughout training and beyond.

Minimum requirements — Critical to your success:

This program is designed for individuals who are serious about launching a skilled trade career. The following requirements are mandatory:

  • Ability to successfully pass:
  • Interview process
  • Drug test
  • Criminal background check
  • Physical exam
  • Willingness and ability to work hourly shift schedules, including nights and weekends
  • Demonstrated qualities essential for hands‑on technical work:
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Ability to follow instructions and procedures
  • Mechanical aptitude and interest
  • Comfort working with checklists and technical steps
  • Precision and attention to detail when using hands and tools
  • Curiosity about how mechanical parts and systems function

Candidates who thrive in this program take safety, consistency, and craftsmanship seriously.
