Role Purpose
Nova Pathways is seeking a confident, multilingual, proactive and target-driven Student Advisor to recruit prospective Home students for our partner universities and higher education institutions.
This is a community-facing, digitally active and results-driven role. The successful candidate will independently find and recruit their own students through personal and professional networks, community engagement, social media and other outreach activities. Individual recruitment targets are agreed for each university intake.
The role focuses particularly on adults entering higher education for the first time, returning to learning after a break or considering a career change. It combines targeted outreach, digital content, personalised guidance, application support and consistent follow-up.
Key Responsibilities
Targeted Outreach & Community Engagement
- Independently source, attract and recruit prospective Home students for Nova Pathways partner universities, rather than relying on company-provided leads.
- Use established personal, professional and community networks to generate enquiries and develop new student recruitment opportunities.
- Build relationships with community groups, local organisations and individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Engage mature learners, career changers and people returning to education; maintain professional follow-up and an organised enquiry pipeline.
- Work towards agreed individual recruitment targets for each university intake.
Social Media & Digital Content
- Promote approved courses, educational opportunities and upcoming university Open Days through appropriate channels such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and WhatsApp groups.
- Create engaging posts, photographs and short-form videos; be willing to appear on camera in appropriate promotional content.
- Use basic photo and video editing tools, adapting messages for different audiences and communities.
- Ensure all communications follow approved university information, company marketing guidelines and relevant advertising standards.
Student Enquiry, Application & Enrolment Support
- Understand prospective students’ goals and circumstances and provide clear information about relevant educational pathways.
- Identify applicants who may qualify for Home fee status and refer final eligibility decisions to the relevant partner university.
- Explain application stages, deadlines and enrolment requirements without guaranteeing admission or funding.
- Support prospective students with preparing and submitting applications and required documents; maintain contact through to enrolment.
- Follow up with recruited students to obtain confirmation of Tuition Fee Funding Approval where required for commission eligibility.
- Signpost enrolled students to relevant academic, wellbeing or student support services when appropriate.
Events, Reporting & Performance
- Actively promote partner university Open Days, information sessions and relevant community events; invite prospective students and encourage attendance.
- Follow up with Open Day attendees about suitable courses and their next steps towards applying.
- Work independently and take initiative to achieve agreed recruitment targets for each university intake. Only successfully enrolled students with confirmed Home fee status count towards these targets.
- Keep accurate records of student enquiries, outreach activities, applications and enrolment outcomes in line with data protection requirements.
- Share recruitment progress, student feedback and suggestions for improving outreach with management.
Person Specification
Essential skills and experience
- Ability to communicate in a second language is desirable.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to build trust across diverse communities.
- Established personal, professional or community connections and the initiative to generate student leads independently.
- A proactive, self-motivated and target-driven approach, with confidence in managing student recruitment from initial enquiry to enrolment.
- Confidence using social media for outreach and willingness to feature in suitable promotional videos.
- Basic photo and video content creation or editing skills.
- Strong organisation, accurate record keeping and consistent follow-up with prospective students.
- Sensitivity to the needs of mature learners, career changers and people returning to education.
Desirable skills and experience
- Experience in student recruitment, hospitality, customer service, sales, community engagement, marketing or other people-facing work.
- Experience promoting opportunities through social media and community networks.
- Knowledge of UK higher education pathways, admissions processes, Home fee status or tuition fee funding approval requirements.
- Experience using Canva, CapCut or equivalent editing software.
Working Arrangements & Performance
- This is a part-time, fully office-based role of 16 hours per week, worked over two agreed days between Monday and Friday.
- Annual salary: £10,620 (£885 per month), plus employment benefits.
- Performance-based commission of up to £1,500 is available under the approved commission scheme.
- Commission is payable only for successfully enrolled Home students at partner universities where valid confirmation of Tuition Fee Funding Approval has been received for the relevant student. Enrolment alone does not qualify for payment.
- Student Advisors independently source and recruit their own students. Agreed targets apply to each university intake, and only successfully enrolled students with confirmed Home fee status count towards those targets.
Who May Be a Good Fit?
We welcome applicants from education and outreach backgrounds, as well as candidates with transferable experience in hospitality, customer service, sales, marketing and other people-facing roles. Prior higher education experience is helpful but not essential if a candidate can demonstrate strong communication skills, relevant community networks, initiative, digital engagement and the ability to recruit students independently.
