Position Summary

The Student Lab Assistant works to support to ensure teaching and research laboratories are clean, organized, safe, and properly equipped. The Student Lab Assistant reports to the Laboratory Manager.

Essential Functions

• Laboratory setup and breakdown.
• Preparation of reagents and solutions.
• Cleaning and sterilization of glassware.
• Inventory and supply management.
• Receiving and storage of materials.
• Performs routine equipment maintenance.
• Maintains laboratory records and logs.
• Assists with chemical waste identification and safety procedures.
• Performs additional laboratory-related duties as assigned by the Laboratory Manager.

Qualifications

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• Proficient use of Microsoft Office.
• Ability to communicate both written and verbally.
• Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
• Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.

Work Hours

• Monday – Friday
• 20 hours per week, hours vary, depending on lab schedules
