Student Nurse Extern Program (Part-Time/Internship)

Role Overview: The Student Nurse Extern (SNE) provides basic patient care under the supervision of registered nurses, gaining hands-on clinical experience in a fast-paced healthcare environment. This role involves performing age-appropriate, culturally competent care such as hygiene, vital signs, and assisting with daily activities, while supporting team initiatives and promoting a positive patient experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with patient care activities, ensuring safety, confidentiality, and dignity.
• Respond promptly to call lights and communicate effectively with patients and staff.
• Support infection control protocols and maintain a clean, safe environment.
• Transport supplies, medications, and equipment as needed.
• Participate in performance improvement and professional development activities.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to deliver quality care.

Qualifications & Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent, with at least one clinical rotation completed in an acute care setting.
• Enrollment in a nursing program (RN) with at least one clinical course completed.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and multitasking skills.
• Ability to work under stress, maintain attention to detail, and utilize electronic medical records.
• Basic medical terminology and computer skills required.
