Job Summary

The Director for Religious and Spiritual Engagement in the Office for Student Success leads programs and services that support religious and spiritual engagement at the University of Kentucky. Situated within the Dean of Students Office, this position develops, implements, and assesses engagement opportunities that respond to student needs, promotes understanding of religious and spiritual traditions, and strengthens engagement, and student success within the Wildcat community. A primary responsibility is building and sustaining relationships with student organizations, their leaders and advisors, and local religious and spiritual communities. Through regular communication and collaboration, the director helps organizations navigate university resources, develop leadership, and create meaningful opportunities for involvement. Partnerships with offices and colleges across campus support coordinated programming, identification of emerging needs, and connections to resources and supportive relationships. The role provides guidance related to religious and spiritual beliefs, practices, and observances, including helping students, staff, and faculty navigate university policies and connect with appropriate university offices. Educational programming, relationship-building, and responsive support contribute to student persistence, retention, and continued progress toward graduation. Responsibilities also include using feedback and assessment to improve programs and services, guide resource planning, and demonstrate the impact of the office, as well as contributing to special projects and shared unit and division priorities. Success in this role requires a student-centered approach, strong collaborative relationships, sound judgment, and respect for religious, spiritual, and nonreligious perspectives.

Student Success will, from the time of early college outreach to graduation and beyond, support students in living a life of meaning and purpose. From a student-centered framework, our practice will be grounded in peer-reviewed literature, national best practices, and data-informed decision making. Collaborating with the campus and community, Student Success will work through a holistic lens to support a community of learners in achieving success.
