What they need

Our growing Early Education to Year 12 college is seeking a friendly, organised and caring Student Reception (Administration) Officer to be the first point of contact for students, families and visitors, and to provide first aid and student wellbeing support.

About Stromlo Forest Anglican College

Stromlo Forest Anglican College is the first new Anglican school in Canberra in more than twenty years, and is an Early Education to Year 12 school. The College opened in 2026, will grow to Year 8 in 2027 and will ultimately serve more than 1,800 students.

Our ethos is grounded in the Anglican tradition and guided by our core values of Love and Courage.

About the Role

The Student Reception (Administration) Officer provides a welcoming, efficient and professional reception service. The role manages visitors, student arrivals and departures, attendance, phone and front desk enquiries, and the College’s first aid, ensuring students are cared for and families are kept informed.

This is a full-time, permanent, year-round position. As a member of our founding team, you will help establish the reception and first aid systems that will serve the College as it grows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reception: welcome and assist students, families and visitors; manage late arrivals, early departures and student sign-in/sign-out

  • First aid and student health: provide first aid, manage the sick bay, administer medication as authorised, and maintain health records, medical action plans and incident reports

  • Family communication: contact parents and carers about unwell or injured students and respond to enquiries promptly and sensitively

  • Attendance: record and follow up absences and support accurate attendance data

  • Administration: manage phones, emails, messages, mail, lost property and general office support

  • Front office support: support visitor sign-in, contractor management and the wider administration team, including during school holiday periods

About You

  • Experience in reception, customer service or administration, preferably in a school or education setting

  • A current First Aid certificate (HLTAID011 Provide First Aid or HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting), including CPR, anaphylaxis and asthma management, or willingness to obtain one

  • A warm, calm and caring manner with children, young people and families

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and accurate record keeping

  • Confidence with Microsoft 365 and school database systems

  • A high level of discretion and professionalism

  • Willingness to support the Anglican ethos and values of the College

  • A current ACT Working with Vulnerable People registration (or the ability to obtain one)

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a founding team establishing a new college

  • A supportive, values-driven culture with opportunities for professional growth

  • Competitive salary and conditions under the Independent Schools ACT (Professional and Operational Staff) Cooperative Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2025

How to Apply

Please submit your application as one PDF document to [email protected], including:

  • A cover letter addressing your suitability for the role

  • Your current CV including three referees

  • A copy of your current First Aid certificate (if held)

Confidential enquiries may be directed to Andy Gordon, Founding Principal, at [email protected].

Applications will be reviewed as they are received, and the College reserves the right to appoint before the closing date.

Applications close: 20th Oct 2026

Stromlo Forest Anglican College is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people. The successful applicant will be required to hold a current ACT Working with Vulnerable People registration and complete a satisfactory National Criminal History Check.
