Student Services Coach

JOB SUMMARY The Student Services Coach is an active and integral member of the Student Services team. The Coach is responsible for maintaining a safe and supportive school environment that allows students to be known personally, challenged intellectually, and participate actively in their learning. The Coach is responsible for contributing to a respectful school culture that exemplifies the Sizer Six and for providing staff with the needed tools and support to maintain classroom management. The Coach is highly visible within the school building.

The Student Services Coach is also responsible for assisting with behavioral incidents and collaborating with the Assistant Principal and Manager of Student Services to track and manage data related to student behavior. The Coach communicates effectively with students, staff, and families. Hours are Monday-Friday from 7:00AM to 3:00PM.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES (May include but not limited to: )Monitors common areas during student arrival, hallway transitions, lunches, and afternoon dismissal;Supports the Assistant Principal and other members of the Student Services Team in ensuring a safe and orderly school environment, including supporting the management of student issues, behavioral concerns, and crises;Responds to requests from teachers, staff and administrators to support student academic achievement and positive behavior;Supports teachers in the classroom to improve student behavior and academic performance/achievement through meeting with students, collaborating with staff, and observing classrooms;Integrates Sizers restorative justice approach to student discipline;Directly supervises students who have been placed on disciplinary restriction, including in-school suspension and lunch reflections;Coordinates work retrieval for students placed on in-school suspension and provides appropriate academic support;Models appropriate behavior and displays professional conduct at all times; Prepares documents and reports and maintains files that contain sensitive and confidential information;Models and encourages community practices that are consistent with the Common Principles of the Coalition of Essential Schools;Adheres to the policies and procedures of Sizer School; maintains the confidentiality of student information at all times;Remains highly visible during school hours, specifically in hallways during transitions and common areas;Reports concerns to an administrator in a professional and timely manner;Regular in-person attendance; and All other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONSPrior experience in a school setting working with at-risk youth preferredHigh School Diploma/GED required; Bachelors preferredAbility to effectively manage high stress situations and adapt to complex circumstancesStrong ability to build trusting relationships with students, staff, and familiesStrong communication, collaboration and organizational skillsFamiliarity with restorative justice model preferredAbility to maintain high levels of confidentialityFamiliarity with technology (Google Workspace) and basic office equipmentAbility to pass CORI and National Criminal Background Check
