Help Us Make a Difference, One Student at a Time!

At Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Fort Smith, we believe our greatest responsibility goes beyond teaching self-defense. We're committed to helping our students develop confidence, build meaningful relationships, overcome challenges, and experience personal growth.

We're looking for a friendly, dependable, and outgoing individual to join our team as our Student Success & Retention Coordinator.

This position is all about people! You'll help ensure our students and families feel welcomed, supported, encouraged, and connected throughout their jiu-jitsu journey.

This is not a sales position. Your focus will be on building relationships, improving the student experience, and helping our members succeed.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Building Relationships: Get to know our students and families, learn their goals, and help them feel like valued members of our academy.
  • Welcoming New Students: Help new members feel comfortable and connected through personal check-ins during their first several months.
  • Encouraging Student Success: Recognize achievements, celebrate progress, and help students stay motivated.
  • Monitoring Student Engagement: Identify students who have missed classes or become less active and reach out with encouragement and support.
  • Creating Connections: Help students build friendships, find training partners, and develop accountability relationships that encourage consistent attendance.
  • Supporting Families: Listen to concerns, help resolve challenges, and work with our instructional team to create positive experiences.
  • Maintaining Communication: Keep accurate records of student interactions, follow-ups, and important feedback.
  • Supporting Retention Efforts: Work with academy leadership to identify opportunities to improve student satisfaction and long-term participation.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys people and takes pride in helping others succeed.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Friendly, approachable, positive, and professional personality.
  • Dependable, organized, and self-motivated.
  • Comfortable initiating conversations with both adults and children.
  • Basic computer skills and willingness to learn our membership management software.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive conversations professionally.
  • Willingness to actively participate in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu training.
  • Ability to successfully complete required background screening.

Preferred, But Not Required:

  • At least one year of experience in customer service, education, childcare, hospitality, or a similar field.
  • Experience working with children and families.
  • Familiarity with martial arts or youth-development programs.

No previous jiu-jitsu experience is necessary! All required jiu-jitsu training and academy membership will be provided free of charge.

Schedule & Compensation

  • Starting pay: $15 per hour.
  • Pay increase: $18 per hour following a successful 90-day performance evaluation.
  • Schedule: Approximately 10-12 hours per week initially.
  • Location: Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Fort Smith, Fort Smith, Arkansas.
  • Benefits: Complimentary Gracie Jiu-Jitsu training and academy membership.
  • Opportunity: Potential for additional responsibilities and hours as the position and academy continue to develop.
