Acton Academy Mississauga (AAM) is a private school looking for a dynamic and thoughtful person to join its staff as a Sparks Studio Guide, predominantly working with learners ages 5-11 years.

Other helpful background about the Sparks Studio Guide role:

● Experience working with mixed ages of young children

● Early Childhood Education credentials essential, as well as practical experience working with young children

● Montessori, Reggio Emilia, Waldorf or other similar training

● Deep curiosity and is ready to work hard in a small, tight knit and entrepreneurial environment

● Passion for disrupting traditional education

● Involved with planning out the Sparks Studio space, implementing learning arcs and day-to-day learning plans, pivoting with interest of learners

● Commit to a Guide and Studio contract, once finalized

● Facilitate Socratic discussions during launches

● Lead outdoor times and plan local field trips

● Help with school administration, as needed, for a growing school

● Current First Aid and Vulnerable Sector check required

● Experience working in small teams or for a start-up or entrepreneurial venture

● Deeply committed to a different way of delivering learning and supporting learner-driven education

Acton Academy Mississauga (AAM) is a learner-driven, 21st century private school, newly launched in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). We offer mixed age, learner-driven studios with the goal of empowering learners to discover their love of learning and individual strengths and call on them to change the world. Our focus is to build our learner’s abilities to grow and thrive in the 21st century by emphasizing the crucial skills of communication, critical thinking, and taking initiative through self-direction.

AAM believes in a self-paced learning design rather than traditional grade levels. We use quests with real world experiences, which lead to public exhibitions of work, rather than report cards and scores on tests. AAM empowers learners to choose their learning.
