The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Study Coordination Team Lead – Early Phase to join our Takapuna team.
Working within our early phase clinical trials unit, you’ll lead and support our Study Coordinators and Clinical Trial Assistants (CTAs), while taking responsibility for coordinating studies and supporting their successful delivery.
This is an opportunity for someone who combines strong clinical research experience with a practical leadership approach. You’ll enjoy developing people, managing competing priorities and keeping a busy study portfolio running smoothly.
About the Role
In this role, you will:
- Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance and support to the Study Coordinator and CTA team.
- Coordinate your own studies while maintaining oversight of team workloads, priorities and study timelines.
- Work closely with investigators, nursing and operational teams to plan and deliver early phase clinical trials.
- Support study start-up, participant scheduling, study visits and close-out activities.
- Ensure study activities and documentation meet protocol requirements, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Act as a key contact for sponsors, CROs, monitors and other study stakeholders.
- Support team onboarding, training and development, building confidence and capability.
- Identify and escalate study risks, resource pressures and delivery issues.
- Maintain accurate study records and support monitoring visits, audits and inspections.
- Improve coordination processes, operational efficiency and the participant experience.
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture.
About You
You’ll bring:
- At least three years’ experience in study coordination within a clinical trial environment.
- Experience in early phase clinical trials, ideally within a dedicated clinical trials unit.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including supporting, mentoring or supervising a team.
- The ability to manage your own study responsibilities alongside team leadership.
- A sound understanding of GCP, study protocols and clinical trial documentation.
- Strong organisational skills and confidence managing multiple studies and competing priorities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong attention to detail, sound judgement and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office and clinical trial management systems.

What We Offer
- The opportunity to lead a team within a well-established and growing clinical research organisation.
- A collaborative, supportive and inclusive working environment.
- Access to learning, development and career progression opportunities.
- Free on-site parking at our Takapuna location.
- Freshly brewed coffee and refreshments available on site.
- Meaningful work that contributes to better treatment options for patients.
