What they need

ABOUT JSM

JSM Group designs and builds the power networks and digital infrastructure that clients across the UK, Europe and beyond depend on, from high-voltage grid connections and critical utilities to data centres and renewable energy. Our civil, power and digital engineers work under one roof, giving clients one team from design to energisation, with the technical, commercial and consenting risk managed from day one.

Belonging here isn’t accidental — it’s engineered. Our values of personal responsibility, sound judgment and drive shape how we work, and you’ll get the work to stretch you and the support to develop fast. See life at JSM at careers.jsmgroup.com.

ABOUT THE TEAM

You’ll join our Procurement team of 8 people. The team supports critical infrastructure projects worth up to £60m in the power, communications, gas and water sectors, across the UK and overseas. You’ll work day to day with Commercial and Project teams, and directly with our subcontract supply chain, from Potters Bar.

THE ROLE

As Subcontract Administrator, you’ll make sure every subcontractor on our projects is onboarded, compliant and fully contracted before work starts. As the business grows, a well-run, compliant supply chain is what keeps our projects moving.

What you’ll do

  • Onboard new subcontractors and run compliance checks in our specialist procurement software, and move existing supply chain partners onto updated compliance requirements
  • Collect and prepare mandatory subcontract documentation with Project teams, and confirm approvals such as Permission to Proceed (PTP) are in place before execution
  • Manage subcontract execution through DocuSign, including electronic filing and document control
  • Raise subcontract purchase orders in our ERP system and keep the subcontractor database up to date
  • Coordinate supply chain communications and produce reports for senior management

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

Essential

  • Experience in an administrative role in utilities, infrastructure, power or construction, ideally 5 years.
  • Experience supporting subcontract administration or procurement processes
  • Strong IT skills, including Word, Excel, DocuSign and procurement or ERP systems
  • Strong organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritise a varied workload and keep information confidential
  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with construction contracts or subcontract documentation

You’ll thrive here if you

  • Take ownership of your work and your development
  • Would rather solve a hard problem than avoid it
  • Know that good delivery depends on civil, power and digital teams pulling in the same direction
  • Are straight with people about risk and programme, especially under pressure

Don’t tick every box? Apply anyway. We look at what you’ve delivered and what you’re capable of — not just the list.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Pay & reward: competitive salary, performance-linked bonus and car allowance (where applicable), and a 4% matched pension
  • Time off: 28 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, and 2 paid volunteering days a year
  • Health & wellbeing: BUPA health cash plan, Benenden Health and an employee assistance programme
  • Career growth: funded training through our Training Centre and Competency Cloud, mentoring and coaching programmes, and professional memberships
  • Extras: electric car salary-sacrifice scheme

READY TO APPLY?

Click Apply and upload your CV. It takes around 5 minutes, and you don’t need a cover letter.

  • What happens next if you're successful: you’ll have a call with one of our Talent Partners. If you’re successful at that stage, we’ll invite you to an interview with the hiring manager.

EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES

JSM Group is an equal opportunities employer and we welcome applications from everyone. Better engineering comes from bringing different experience into the same room, and every application is assessed on skills, experience and potential. If you need an adjustment at any stage — the application, interview format or assessment — tell us and we’ll sort it.

Other offers great for you!
