Rock Hill Childcare Center is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and exceptionally patient individual to join our team as an On-Call Substitute Toddler Teacher!

Our toddler classroom serves children ages 18 months to 2½ years. We believe in creating a warm, nurturing, play-based environment where little ones feel safe, loved, and encouraged to explore the world around them.

We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with toddlers, understands their developmental needs, and can confidently step into a classroom with little advance notice.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Previous early childhood education or childcare experience is required.
• Must possess at least one of the following:
• A degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
• A Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
• A minimum of one year of qualifying early childhood experience, with the willingness and ability to complete additional coursework necessary to meet Michigan’s lead caregiver qualifications.
• Must demonstrate exceptional patience, compassion, and understanding when working with toddlers.
• Must be dependable, adaptable, and comfortable with an unpredictable schedule.
• Must be able to respond to staffing requests with limited advance notice, including late evenings or early mornings.
• Must be comfortable quickly transitioning into classroom routines and responsibilities.
• Must meet all applicable Michigan childcare licensing requirements, including background checks and required training.

Scheduling & Availability

This is a true on-call position requiring a high level of flexibility.
Our staffing needs may change unexpectedly due to employee illnesses, absences, vacations, or other scheduling needs.

• Weekly hours may range from 1 to 35 hours, depending on the needs of the center.
• Some weeks may offer very few hours, while others may require several full shifts.
• Applicants must be comfortable receiving calls or messages late in the evening for the following day or early in the morning for a same-day shift.
• The ability to adjust personal schedules and report to work with limited notice is essential.
• Consistent weekly hours are not guaranteed.

While this position will initially be on-call, there is potential for the right candidate to be offered a permanent, full-time position within the next six months as our center continues to grow.

Full-time employment is not guaranteed and will depend on enrollment, staffing needs, qualifications, and job performance.
