About South Point Counseling Services

South Point Counseling Services is an established, multidisciplinary outpatient mental health practice serving individuals, couples, and families. We provide a wide range of behavioral health services, including individual and group therapy, psychological assessments, psychiatric medication management, and specialized treatment programs.

We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and clinically skilled Substance Use Program Coordinator / Licensed Clinical Therapist to help develop, coordinate, and expand our substance use treatment services.

This is an opportunity for a clinician who enjoys working directly with clients while also taking a leadership role in building a comprehensive, evidence-based substance use treatment program.

Position Overview

The Substance Use Program Coordinator will have two primary responsibilities:

  1. Provide direct clinical services to individuals experiencing substance use disorders, co-

occurring mental health conditions, and related behavioral health challenges.

  1. Lead the development, implementation, coordination, and growth of South Point's

outpatient substance use treatment program.

The ideal candidate is a self-directed professional with strong clinical judgment, program

development experience, organizational skills, and an interest in helping expand services within an established practice.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Services

  • Provide individual therapy and substance use disorder treatment.
  • Conduct comprehensive substance use assessments and biopsychosocial evaluations.
  • Determine clinically appropriate levels of care and make referrals when higher levels of treatment are indicated.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on client needs and evidence-based practices.
  • Provide treatment for clients experiencing co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders.
  • Facilitate or co-facilitate substance use treatment groups as needed.
  • Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation.
  • Collaborate with other clinicians and psychiatric medication providers to coordinate care.

Program Development and Coordination

  • Develop and implement a structured outpatient substance use treatment program.
  • Establish assessment procedures, admission criteria, treatment protocols, and discharge guidelines.
  • Develop evidence-based individual and group treatment options.
  • Coordinate and expand existing services, including Seeking Safety and cognitive- behavioral interventions.
  • Create treatment curricula, educational materials, and program procedures.
  • Develop referral relationships with community providers, courts, probation services, and other referral sources.
  • Collaborate with leadership to identify opportunities for program expansion.
  • Monitor program utilization, clinical outcomes, and operational performance.
  • Assist with developing future intensive outpatient programming (IOP) as organizational needs and regulatory requirements permit.

Leadership and Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Clinical Director to establish program goals and priorities.
  • Provide guidance and consultation to clinicians working with substance use disorders.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning.
  • Assist with training and mentoring clinicians and students.
  • Potentially provide clinical supervision to interns or associate-level clinicians, when appropriately qualified and approved.
  • Identify opportunities to improve treatment quality, client access, and program effectiveness.

Qualifications

Required

  • Master's degree or higher in social work, clinical mental health counseling, or a related clinical field.
  • Current Utah clinical license appropriate to the services provided, such as LCSW, CMHC, or LMFT.
  • Demonstrated clinical experience treating substance use disorders.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based substance use treatment approaches.
  • Familiarity with substance use assessments, treatment planning, relapse prevention, and co-occurring disorders.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with a multidisciplinary clinical team.

Preferred

  • Three or more years of substance use treatment experience.
  • Experience developing, coordinating, or managing behavioral health programs.
  • Experience with ASAM Criteria and level-of-care placement decisions.
  • Experience with group therapy and treatment curriculum development.
  • Familiarity with court-ordered treatment, probation referrals, and justice-involved populations.
  • Experience supervising clinicians or graduate-level interns.
  • Experience with intensive outpatient or other structured substance use programs.
  • Additional substance use disorder credentials or specialized training.

Work Schedule and Expectations

This is a full-time salaried position with a 40-hour weekly commitment.

The role will initially include approximately 18–22 completed clinical appointments per week, with dedicated time for program development, administrative responsibilities, and coordination.

Clinical expectations may be adjusted as the substance use program develops.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Annual salary of $85,000–$95,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
  • Health and dental insurance for eligible employees.
  • 401(k) retirement benefits.
  • Paid time off.
  • Continuing education support.
  • Established administrative and billing support.
  • Access to a multidisciplinary clinical team.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and leadership.

Why Join South Point?

This position offers a unique opportunity to help shape and grow a substance use treatment

program within an established outpatient mental health practice.

Rather than joining a fully developed program, the selected candidate will have the opportunity

to contribute directly to its clinical direction, service offerings, and future growth.

We are looking for someone who combines excellent clinical skills with initiative, leadership,

and a genuine interest in program development.

To Apply

Please submit your resume and a brief description of your experience treating substance use disorders, developing clinical programs, or coordinating substance use treatment services.
