Substitute Student Nutrition Staff

Duties

• Assist with food preparation, including portioning, assembling, and plating meals according to established standards
• Serve students in a friendly, efficient manner while maintaining excellent customer service
• Follow food safety sanitizing procedures to ensure cleanliness and prevent contamination
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and effectively, including ovens, dishwashers, and food warmers
• Maintain cleanliness of food prep areas, dining spaces, and equipment through regular cleaning routines
• Handle manual tasks such as lifting food supplies and weight handling in the workplace with proper technique
• Process cash transactions accurately using POS (Point of Sale) systems when required for meal purchases

Requirements

• Previous experience in food service, catering, or restaurant environments is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided
• Knowledge of food safety management and sanitizing procedures is highly desirable
• Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Strong customer service skills with an emphasis on in-person interaction with students and staff
• Basic math skills for processing cash transactions and measuring ingredients
• Experience with food industry standards including serving, food handling, and banquet or catering experience is a plus
• Ability to work flexible hours during school days with reliable attendance
