The Role

We are seeking empathetic, patient, and adaptable Substitute Teachers to join our team. As a substitute at LMA, you aren't just a "placeholder"—you are a vital part of our mission to ensure our students feel supported and understood, even when their primary teacher is away.

Responsibilities

• Implement lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher while maintaining a positive learning environment.
• Manage small class sizes (average 8 students per class) with a focus on patience and clarity.
• Provide individualized support to students with diverse learning needs (e.g., ADHD, Dyslexia, Dysgraphia).
• Maintain classroom expectations and follow school-wide behavioral supports.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure a seamless school day.

Qualifications

• Education: Minimum of 60 college credit hours (required by Michigan law) or a valid Teaching Certificate.
• Experience: Previous experience working with children or adolescents is preferred; experience in Special Education or with neurodivergent learners is a major plus.
• Skills: Strong communication, flexibility, and a genuine passion for helping students overcome academic challenges.
• Requirements: Must pass a comprehensive criminal background check and fingerprinting.

Schedule

• On-call / As needed
• Monday through Friday (7:30 am - 3 pm)
