Substitute Teacher

Koinonia Christian School Red Deer is seeking caring, adaptable, and enthusiastic substitute teachers to join our Kindergarten to Grade 12 teaching team.

The role

Substitute teachers provide continuity of learning when classroom teachers are absent. Responsibilities include:

• Delivering prepared lessons and supporting students in their learning.
• Maintaining a safe, welcoming, and well-managed classroom.
• Responding to a range of learning needs with patience, flexibility, and care.
• Modelling Christian character and supporting the school’s faith, mission, and values.
• Following school procedures and completing assigned supervision duties.
• Leaving clear feedback for the classroom teacher about learning progress and any concerns.

Qualifications

We are looking for applicants who have:

• A Bachelor of Education and valid Alberta teaching certification.
• A personal commitment to the Christian faith and willingness to affirm the school’s Statement of Faith.
• Strong classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
• A dependable, flexible approach to working across different classrooms.

Applicants should identify their preferred grade levels, subject strengths, and availability. Experience supporting students with diverse learning needs is an asset.
