Duties

• Implement lesson plans provided by the regular teacher or develop your own engaging activities aligned with curriculum standards
• Manage classroom behavior and foster a respectful, inclusive environment for all students
• Support students’ individual needs, including those with disabilities or developmental challenges, through tailored assistance and behavior management strategies
• Assist with classroom routines such as attendance, transitions, and instructional activities in subjects like math, literacy, and creative writing
• Collaborate with school staff to ensure smooth daily operations and communicate student progress or concerns effectively
• Supervise students during meals, recess, and other non-instructional times to promote safety and positive social interactions
• Maintain a professional demeanor while proofreading instructional materials and supporting individualized education plans (IEPs) for students requiring special education services

Qualifications

• Prior classroom experience or childcare background is preferred but not required; enthusiasm for working with children is essential
• Knowledge of childhood development principles, classroom management techniques, and behavior management strategies
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, staff, and parents
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities, autism, or developmental disabilities is highly desirable
• Familiarity with curriculum development, lesson planning, literacy education, Montessori methods, and early childhood education enhances your effectiveness in the role
• Ability to adapt quickly to different classroom environments and demonstrate creative teaching approaches
• Proofreading skills to review instructional materials and assist with tutoring or mentoring activities
