Substitute Teacher (Pre-K through 9th Grade)

Foothills School of Arts & Sciences is seeking enthusiastic, flexible, and caring substitute teachers to join our

substitute teacher pool. Located in the heart of downtown Boise, Foothills is an independent PreK–9 school

where curiosity, creativity, and meaningful relationships are at the center of learning. Our project-based

curriculum integrates the arts and sciences to inspire students to become courageous, joyful lifelong

learners.

As a substitute teacher, you play an important role in ensuring continuity of learning while creating a

positive, engaging classroom environment. Whether you're an experienced educator, a retired teacher, or

someone interested in progressive education, we'd love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

● Lead classroom activities using lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher.

● Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.

● Encourage student curiosity, collaboration, and problem-solving.

● Support students' academic, social, and emotional well-being.

● Communicate with school staff regarding the day's activities and any important classroom updates.

● Uphold the mission, values, and expectations of the Foothills community.

Qualifications

● Bachelor's degree preferred (or current enrollment in a teacher preparation program).

● Previous experience working with children in an educational or youth-focused setting is preferred.

● Strong communication and classroom management skills.

● Flexibility, reliability, and the ability to adapt to different grade levels and classroom environments.

● A collaborative mindset and appreciation for project-based, student-centered learning.
