Job Overview:

On-call Substitutes for Bellarmine Preparatory School: Friendly and competent professionals who are passionate about working with adolescents in various classroom settings and disciplines. The on-call substitute will play a crucial role in maintaining the continuity of instructional and classroom management processes when teachers are absent for a day or longer periods of time.

Responsibilities:

• Instructional Support:
  • Deliver lesson plans provided by absent teachers, ensuring a smooth continuation of the curriculum.
  • Provide clear explanations and instructions to students, addressing any questions or concerns that may arise.
  • Follow classroom procedures and achieve lesson goals.
• Classroom Management:
  • Maintain a positive and conducive learning environment in the absence of the regular teacher.
  • Enforce classroom rules and policies to ensure a productive and respectful atmosphere.
• Adaptability:
  • Be adaptable and comfortable working across various subjects and grade levels.
  • Quickly familiarize oneself with the curriculum and materials for each assignment.
• Communication:
  • Collaborate with school staff to address any specific needs or challenges within the classroom.
  • Provide feedback to regular teachers regarding the day's activities and any noteworthy incidents.
• Professionalism:
  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism and ethical conduct.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree
• Teacher or substitute certification preferred (Washington State)
• Detailed-oriented and able to follow written and verbal instructions
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Pass a background check
• Complete Safe Environment training
• Familiarity with Jesuit education preferred
