Substitute Teachers

High Meadow School, certified by the New York State Association of Independent Schools (NYSAIS), is a vibrant, progressive learning community located in Stone Ridge, NY, offering nursery school through 8th Grade, after-school, and summer camps open to the community.

We are seeking substitute teachers - referred to as Guest Teachers at our school - to teach in our Nursery through 8th-grade classrooms during the 2026/2027 school year.

DETAILS:

• This is an on-call position to provide coverage when regular teaching staff are absent
• Classes are held outside in forest classrooms, the nature trail, the gardens as well as inside classrooms when weather is inclement (a love of nature is highly encouraged)
• Previous experience with children is preferred.
• Flexibility, strong communication skills, and the ability to work with other adults and students is essential
• High school diploma or GED required
• Backgrounds in varying educational philosophies are welcomed
• Knowledge of current COVID health and safety protocols is helpful, but upon hiring, training will be given.
• Background and fingerprint clearance are part of the hiring process.

The rate of pay for a Guest Teacher is $120/day
