  • Program Dates: May 10 – August 13, 2027
  • Pay: $15/hour + overtime eligibility

Position Summary

Sports Promotions Group (SPG) is seeking Summer Event Sales Interns to support onsite retail sales and grassroots marketing at national soccer and lacrosse events across the country. Interns will help operate temporary retail stores, engage with customers, and support major brand partners during a busy summer event season. This hands-on role is ideal for individuals who enjoy teamwork, live events, and fast-paced environments.

This internship offers a fast-paced, immersive summer experience with frequent travel, extended workdays, and some weekend or holiday shifts. Interns should expect to spend much of the summer traveling to events. Individuals who are flexible, adaptable, and able to maintain broad availability from May through July will get the most out of this opportunity.

What You’ll Do

  • Travel nationwide to assist with onsite event retail sales at national youth sporting events
  • Set up, manage, and break down retail spaces at large-scale events
  • Assist with inventory and basic accounting tasks
  • Engage directly with customers to drive sales and build brand loyalty
  • Support marketing activations and event promotions
  • Collect and analyze event sales and consumer data
  • Work long, active event days, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Collaborate in an active, team-based environment

Qualifications

  • Ability to meet the internship's scheduling and frequent travel requirements. Mandatory availability May 10 – August 13, with peak needs during Memorial Day Weekend, Mid to late June, and all of July.
  • Ability and willingness to work weekends, holidays, early mornings, evenings, and extended event shifts as scheduled
  • Strong customer service skills and a sales-oriented mindset
  • Dependable and adaptable
  • Ability to work independently and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
  • An interest in sports, retail, marketing, or events
  • Current enrollment in or completion of a degree program related to Business, Marketing, Sport Management, Communications, or a related field is preferred

Travel Expectations

  • Travel locations: Event locations may include CA, CO, FL, IL, MN, MO, NJ, NC, OH, OK, TN, TX, VA, and WA
  • Home base: When not traveling, work will be based in Hillsborough, NC.
  • Event assignments: Interns will not attend every event, but are expected to be available during peak event windows. Individual travel schedules and event assignments will vary.
  • Travel expenses: All travel expenses, including flights, lodging, and local transportation, are covered by SPG.
  • Local event opportunities: If you are interested in this role but want to have a limited travel schedule, working at local events may be an option.

Physical Demands

  • Frequently stand and walk for extended periods throughout event shifts.
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull merchandise, boxes, equipment, and event materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequently bend, reach, stoop, and move throughout temporary retail and event spaces.
  • Regularly communicate with customers, team members, and event personnel.
  • Specific vision abilities include close visual acuity to perform activities such as transcribing information, distinguishing colors, and reading.

What to Consider Before Applying

Because of the nature of our summer event schedule, this opportunity is best suited for individuals who are comfortable with frequent travel, variable schedules, weekend and holiday work, extended event days, and active, hands-on responsibilities.

We encourage candidates to carefully consider the travel and scheduling expectations when applying. If you're excited by the opportunity but need a more limited travel schedule, please let us know during the application process. Local event opportunities may be available based on business needs.
