This pivotal role is responsible for coordinating construction activities, supervising subcontractors and field personnel, maintaining project schedules, enforcing safety requirements, and ensuring work is completed in accordance with plans, specifications, building codes, and quality standards.

The Superintendent serves as the primary field leader on assigned projects and works closely with Project Managers, Assistant Superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, clients, architects, engineers, and inspectors. The ideal candidate will bring a proactive leadership style, strong technical construction knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to anticipate and resolve field challenges.

The Superintendent is responsible for ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality standards while maintaining an organized and professional jobsite.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, plan, and coordinate daily construction activities and overall field operations.
  • Supervise and manage on-site crews, subcontractors, vendors, and Assistant Superintendents.
  • Coordinate subcontractor sequencing, manpower, material deliveries, equipment, and site logistics to maintain project schedules.
  • Review and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, specifications, technical documents, and project requirements to ensure accurate execution of work.
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate short-term and look-ahead construction schedules.
  • Monitor project progress and proactively identify potential delays, conflicts, or scheduling concerns.
  • Conduct daily site walks and inspections to evaluate progress, workmanship, safety, cleanliness, and overall site conditions.
  • Verify proper installation methods and ensure work complies with approved plans, specifications, manufacturer requirements, and applicable building codes.
  • Coordinate construction activities with Project Managers, clients, architects, engineers, inspectors, and design teams to maintain an efficient workflow.
  • Enforce OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and federal safety standards across all assigned projects.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and address unsafe conditions or practices immediately.
  • Promote a strong culture of safety, accountability, quality, and professionalism on the jobsite.
  • Perform quality control inspections and ensure deficiencies and incomplete work are corrected in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate required inspections with building officials and other authorities having jurisdiction.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, site logs, progress documentation, safety records, and other required project documentation.
  • Identify field conflicts, unforeseen conditions, scope discrepancies, and potential change-order items and communicate them promptly to the Project Manager.
  • Assist with and provide field information for RFIs, submittals, change orders, and other project documentation.
  • Coordinate material deliveries and verify that necessary materials, equipment, manpower, and project information are available before scheduled work begins.
  • Support project budget goals through effective resource management, cost awareness, productivity, and efficient field operations.
  • Lead subcontractor coordination meetings, safety meetings, and other field meetings as required.
  • Hold subcontractors and field personnel accountable for project schedule, quality, safety, cleanliness, and performance.
  • Maintain an organized, professional, and safe construction site throughout the duration of each project.
  • Manage project punch lists and ensure corrective work is completed promptly.
  • Lead field operations through final inspections, project completion, and closeout.

Experience & Qualifications

  • 3+ years of commercial and/or residential construction experience, with demonstrated experience in a supervisory or field leadership role.
  • Proven experience managing construction sites, subcontractors, vendors, crews, and daily field operations.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, building systems, and industry best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, blueprints, schedules, and technical documents.
  • Strong knowledge of construction safety requirements, OSHA regulations, and federal safety standards.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • Proficiency with construction management software such as Bluebeam, Google Drives and other industry tools.
  • Experience developing and managing short-term and look-ahead construction schedules.
  • Knowledge of RFIs, submittals, change orders, inspections, punch lists, and project closeout procedures.
  • Knowledge of construction estimating, budgeting, cost control, quality control, and contract requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to identify and resolve field issues quickly.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate teams and hold subcontractors accountable.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective coordination with Project Managers, clients, subcontractors, inspectors, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and project success.
  • Ability to take ownership of assigned projects and lead field operations with limited supervision.

This role is ideal for an experienced construction professional who is ready to take ownership of field operations and lead projects from mobilization through completion. We are looking for a motivated leader who takes pride in maintaining safe and organized jobsites, developing strong relationships with subcontractors, solving problems proactively, and delivering high-quality residential and commercial construction projects.
