What they need

Company Description

Plescia Construction & Development is a rapidly growing commercial construction firm focused on delivering high-quality projects with a strong emphasis on service, accountability, and execution. Founded by industry veteran Craig Plescia, the company is built on principles of quality, transparency, and performance.

Our portfolio includes high-end retail, hospitality, pharmaceutical and industrial facilities, corporate interiors, and complex ground-up developments. Headquartered in New Jersey, we perform a significant amount of work throughout New Jersey and New York while also supporting projects along the East Coast, particularly in Florida, as well as select projects in Texas.

Role Description

Plescia Construction & Development is seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Superintendent / Traveling Superintendent to join our growing field operations team.

The ideal candidate will be based in New Jersey and capable of supporting our core project workload throughout New Jersey and New York, while also being comfortable traveling out of state when project needs require it.

Our projects can range geographically from Boston to Miami , with a growing concentration of work throughout Florida , as well as occasional assignments in Texas . Travel may include short-duration assignments, periodic site visits, or longer project deployments depending on the size and schedule of the project.

This is a full-time position based out of Morristown, NJ, although the majority of the Superintendent's responsibilities will take place on active project sites.

The Superintendent is responsible for managing day-to-day field operations, coordinating subcontractors and trades, maintaining project schedules, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with the contract documents and Plescia Construction & Development's quality standards.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage daily field operations from mobilization through project closeout.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, deliveries, inspections, and site logistics.
  • Maintain and drive short-term and overall project schedules.
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and other project documentation.
  • Identify field conflicts and proactively coordinate solutions with the project management team.
  • Conduct subcontractor coordination meetings, site meetings, and daily field communication.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, progress photographs, manpower records, and project documentation.
  • Monitor workmanship and ensure construction conforms to plans, specifications, and company quality standards.
  • Enforce jobsite safety requirements and maintain a clean, professional, and organized project site.
  • Coordinate with project managers, clients, architects, engineers, building officials, and inspectors.
  • Manage punch lists, inspections, turnover, and project closeout activities.
  • Represent Plescia Construction & Development professionally when working directly with clients and project stakeholders.
  • Travel to projects outside the New Jersey/New York market as required, with a particular emphasis on Florida projects and occasional assignments elsewhere along the East Coast or in Texas.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a Commercial Construction Superintendent.
  • Proven experience independently managing commercial construction projects and overseeing field operations from mobilization through closeout.
  • Strong experience managing subcontractors, coordinating multiple trades, sequencing work, and maintaining project schedules.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial construction means, methods, materials, sequencing, and building codes.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, schedules, and project documents.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve field issues, maintain schedules, and keep projects moving in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with subcontractors, project managers, clients, architects, engineers, and inspectors.
  • Strong focus on jobsite safety, quality control, organization, and documentation.
  • Proficiency in Procore is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, is required.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Project, including the ability to review, update, and work with construction schedules, is required.
  • Experience with commercial interiors, high-end retail, hospitality, pharmaceutical, industrial, or ground-up construction is highly beneficial.
  • Must be willing and able to travel regularly for projects outside New Jersey and New York.
  • Candidates based in New Jersey are strongly preferred due to the concentration of the company's work in the NJ/NY market.
  • Ability to travel throughout the East Coast, including Florida, and occasionally to Texas.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.

Travel Expectations

This is not necessarily a permanent road-warrior position, but candidates should be genuinely comfortable traveling when required. The majority of our work remains centered around New Jersey and New York, while our expanding project portfolio may require assignments throughout the Northeast, Southeast, and occasionally Texas.

A successful candidate will have the flexibility to support projects wherever the workload requires, including extended assignments in Florida when necessary.
