Superintendent

The Project Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day field leadership, coordination, safety, quality, scheduling, and successful execution of assigned construction projects. The Superintendent serves as SMG Contractors' primary on-site representative and directs subcontractors, suppliers, field personnel, inspections, and site logistics to ensure the work is completed safely, in accordance with the contract documents, and within the approved schedule and budget. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Provide full-time on-site supervision and leadership for all construction activities.
• Plan, coordinate, and sequence daily and weekly work in accordance with the project schedule.
• Conduct daily coordination meetings and weekly look-ahead planning with subcontractors and the project team.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, deliveries, equipment, manpower, and site access.
• Review drawings, specifications, approved submittals, RFIs, change directives, and contract requirements before work is performed.
• Verify that construction is installed accurately and in accordance with approved plans, specifications, manufacturer requirements, and applicable codes.
• Identify conflicts, deficiencies, and potential delays promptly and coordinate solutions with the Project Manager, design team, and affected trades.
• Maintain accurate daily reports documenting manpower, completed work, deliveries, inspections, visitors weather, delays, safety matters, and site conditions.
• Monitor progress against the baseline and recovery schedules and implement corrective actions when work falls behind.
• Enforce SMG Contractors' safety requirements, OSHA standards, site-specific safety plans, and proper use of personal protective equipment.
• Conduct jobsite safety meetings, document observations, and immediately correct unsafe conditions or practices.
• Manage quality control, perform ongoing inspections, and ensure deficient or nonconforming work is corrected before concealment or acceptance.
• Coordinate required building department, owner, architect, engineer, manufacturer, and third-party inspections.
• Maintain a clean, secure, organized, and professional jobsite, including material storage, temporary protection, and debris removal.
• Protect occupied areas, existing improvements, adjacent properties, and the public during construction operations.
• Coordinate shutdowns, access restrictions, temporary facilities, and work in occupied buildings with the
• Owner and Project Manager.
• Track field changes, extra work, time-and-material activities, and subcontractor performance; notify the
• Project Manager before unauthorized work proceeds

Full-time, project-based position. Work hours may vary based on project requirements, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends as necessary. Length of employment may be limited to the assigned project and/or project duration.
