What they need
ELEVATOR MODERNIZATION SUPERINTENDENT
RZ Construction Services, Inc. – Certified Woman-Owned Business (WBE)
RZ Construction Services, Inc. is looking for an experienced, hands-on Elevator Modernization Superintendent to join our growing team.
This is a field leadership position for someone who has a strong working knowledge of multiple construction trades and knows how to coordinate people, subcontractors, materials, schedules, and building requirements to successfully complete a project.
You don't need to be an expert in every trade—but you should be the type of construction professional who can walk onto a jobsite, understand what needs to happen, recognize when something isn't right, and know how to get the right people involved to solve the problem.
Our elevator modernization projects involve coordinating numerous trades and activities, including demolition, carpentry, drywall, concrete, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, metal work, painting, flooring, doors/hardware, and other building modifications.
What You'll Do
· Take ownership of day-to-day field operations for elevator modernization projects
· Coordinate and supervise multiple subcontractors and trades
· Manage projects from mobilization through completion
· Coordinate work sequencing so trades can work efficiently without interfering with one another
· Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documents
· Identify field conflicts and develop practical solutions
· Monitor subcontractor performance, workmanship, schedule, and quality
· Coordinate elevator room modifications and associated building work to meet project requirements, plans, specifications, and applicable codes
· Communicate with project managers, subcontractors, building owners, facility personnel, and other project stakeholders
· Maintain a safe, clean, and organized jobsite
· Conduct and/or participate in jobsite meetings
· Monitor project progress and communicate schedule issues before they become problems
· Coordinate material deliveries and site logistics
· Assist with resolving unexpected field conditions
· Maintain a high standard of quality and professionalism on every project
The Construction Knowledge We're Looking For
The ideal candidate has practical working knowledge of several construction trades, such as:
· Carpentry
· Drywall and finishing
· Concrete and masonry
· Electrical
· HVAC
· Plumbing
· Demolition
· Metal fabrication/installation
· Flooring and finishes
· Doors and hardware
· General commercial construction
You do not need to be a master of every trade. We are looking for someone who understands construction well enough to coordinate the trades, recognize quality issues, anticipate problems, and keep the project moving.
What Makes Someone Successful in This Position?
· Can look at a set of plans and understand how the work needs to come together
· Knows what questions to ask a subcontractor
· Can identify a problem before it turns into a bigger problem
· Understands construction sequencing
· Doesn't need to be told what needs to happen next
· Can manage several trades without losing track of the details
· Communicates clearly with both field personnel and management
· Takes ownership of the jobsite
· Is comfortable working in occupied commercial buildings
· Takes pride in quality workmanship
· Can work independently while keeping the project team informed
Qualifications
· Previous experience in commercial construction, remodeling, renovation, or a related field
· Experience as a Superintendent, Foreman, General Foreman, Lead Carpenter, or experienced construction professional preferred
· Strong working knowledge of multiple construction trades
· Ability to read construction drawings and specifications
· Understanding of construction scheduling and sequencing
· Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
· Ability to coordinate and manage subcontractors
· Strong communication and leadership skills
· Ability to travel between project locations as needed
· Valid driver's license required
Why Join RZ Construction?
At RZ Construction Services, you'll have the opportunity to play an important role in a specialized area of commercial construction while working with a team that values quality, accountability, communication, and getting the job done right.
This is an opportunity for a construction professional who wants to move beyond simply performing one trade and take on a greater leadership role in the field.
If you have broad construction knowledge, take pride in your work, and enjoy figuring out how to make a project come together, we'd like to hear from you.
