Superintendent - Food Processing Position Overview We are seeking a seasoned Superintendent for Food Processing construction projects to lead onsite delivery of refrigeration, MEP, electrical, manufacturing, warehouse and distribution facilities. The Superintendent will manage day-to-day field operations, ensure safety and quality standards for food-grade environments, coordinate subcontractors and trades, and drive projects to on-time, on-budget completion while maintaining compliance with food processing regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise onsite construction activities for food processing, refrigeration, manufacturing, warehouse and distribution facilities from mobilization through turnover.
• Coordinate and manage subcontractors, trades and suppliers for MEP, electrical and refrigeration scopes, ensuring work sequencing and quality control.
• Enforce food safety, sanitary design and HACCP-related construction practices, ensuring compliance with regulatory and customer requirements.
• Develop and maintain daily and weekly construction schedules, anticipate delays and implement recovery plans to meet project milestones.
• Conduct regular site safety meetings, enforce PPE and safety protocols, and ensure adherence to company and client safety standards.
• Perform quality inspections, document punch lists, and coordinate corrective actions with trades and engineering teams.
• Collaborate with project management, engineers and commissioning teams to support MEP startup, system testing and turnover activities.
• Manage site logistics, material staging and equipment for efficient workflow in warehouse and distribution layouts.
• Provide leadership to field personnel, mentor craft crews and communicate progress, issues and decisions to stakeholders.
• Travel to project sites as required to provide onsite supervision, support commissioning and attend client meetings.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Superintendent on commercial construction projects in food processing, manufacturing, refrigeration, warehouse or distribution facilities.
• Strong knowledge of food processing requirements, sanitary design, HACCP principles and regulatory compliance.
• Hands-on experience managing MEP and electrical scopes, including coordination with subcontractors and commissioning teams.
• Technical understanding of refrigeration systems used in cold storage and food processing environments.
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and submittals.
• Excellent leadership, communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to drive results in fast-paced site environments.
• Experience with construction scheduling, site logistics, quality control and safety management.
• Willingness and ability to travel to project sites as required.
• Relevant trade experience or formal construction-related education (degree, diploma or certifications); OSHA and trade-specific certifications preferred.
