Salary: $120,000 - $170,000+ annually, depending on experience

About the Opportunity

A well-established New York general contractor is seeking an experienced Superintendent with direct NYCTA, LIRR, Metro-North, Amtrak, or transit infrastructure construction experience to join its growing team.

This position will oversee field operations on complex public-sector and transportation infrastructure projects throughout Long Island and the New York City metropolitan area. The Superintendent will be responsible for managing day-to-day construction activities, coordinating subcontractors and trades, maintaining safety and quality standards, and ensuring projects are delivered on schedule.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Superintendent who has worked in active rail, transit, station, infrastructure, or public transportation environments and is looking to join a contractor with a strong pipeline of transportation projects.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily field operations from mobilization through project completion.
• Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and field personnel.
• Lead site safety efforts and ensure compliance with owner, contractor, and agency requirements.
• Maintain project schedules and proactively address field issues impacting progress.
• Review drawings, specifications, contract documents, and construction plans.
• Conduct daily site walks, quality inspections, and progress tracking.
• Coordinate closely with Project Managers, owners, engineers, consultants, and agency representatives.
• Lead subcontractor coordination meetings and communicate short-term schedule requirements.
• Track manpower, deliveries, inspections, permit requirements, and project milestones.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Superintendent, Senior Superintendent, Project Superintendent, or Assistant Superintendent on transportation or public infrastructure projects.
• Direct NYCTA, LIRR, Metro-North, Amtrak, or comparable transit construction experience required.
• Experience working on rail, station, transportation, infrastructure, public works, or transit-related projects.
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing, field operations, safety requirements, and quality control.
• Experience coordinating multiple subcontractors and trades in active transportation or public environments.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Familiarity with agency procedures, inspections, and public-sector construction requirements.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• OSHA certification preferred.
• NYCT Track, LIRR Track, Metro-North, Roadway Worker Protection (RWP), or related transit certifications are highly desirable.
