Superintendent - Processing (Roaster)

Chifeng Gold’s Lane Xang Minerals Limited Company (LXML) operates the Sepon Gold and Copper Operation, located in Vilabouly District, Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR. Reporting to the Manager – Processing, the Processing Superintendent – Roaster will lead operational readiness, commissioning, start-up and safe production for the KHN roaster project. This is an early appointment with responsibility for building and mobilising a Roaster Operations team of more than 80 employees before commissioning. The role covers the filter plant, roaster, acid plant, calcine leaching and associated facilities.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Finalising the Roaster Operations structure, crew coverage, competency requirements and workforce mobilisation plan
• Lead recruitment with HR and coordinate onboarding, training and competency assessment so critical leadership, control room and operating roles are ready before commissioning. Preparing operating procedures, training, spares, emergency response and handover requirements for the roaster area
• Leading operations input to system handover, cold and hot commissioning, start-up, performance testing and ramp-up
• Managing safe, stable roaster operation including filtration, calcine leaching and the acid plant.
• Accountable for process safety, throughput, availability, product quality, emissions and operating costs. Support maintenance readiness and asset integrity.
• Leading safety, environmental and process performance while developing Lao national capability and succession pathways

Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

• Degree in Metallurgical, Chemical or Process Engineering or a related discipline; substantial relevant roaster operating experience may be considered
• At least 10 years’ experience in mineral processing, pyrometallurgy or a comparable heavy process industry, including five years in senior operations leadership
• Demonstrated commissioning/start-up experience and senior operating leadership in sulphide roaster, with direct fluidised-bed roasting experience strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience building or mobilising a substantial process plant workforce, including recruitment, onboarding and competency development
• Strong knowledge of fluidised-bed roasting, process control, gas cleaning, calcine handling, process safety and environmental controls
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams through commissioning, challenging operating conditions and production improvement
• Clear communication and coaching skills in a multicultural operating environment; able to lead effectively in English
