SUPERMARKET GENERAL MANAGER

Job Summary

Responsibilities

• Lead daily store operations, including sales management, inventory control, and merchandising to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction
• Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing retail sales team through effective employee orientation, coaching, and ongoing training & development
• Oversee staffing schedules, shift management, and payroll processing to ensure optimal coverage and operational efficiency
• Manage purchasing decisions, pricing strategies, and stock replenishment to maintain accurate inventory levels and reduce shrinkage
• Implement POS (Point of Sale) systems for smooth cashiering processes and oversee cash handling procedures with integrity
• Conduct regular performance evaluations, manage employee relations, and foster a positive team environment through strong managerial communication skills
• Maintain compliance with safety regulations, store policies, and health standards while ensuring excellent customer service at all times

Skills

• Proven management experience within the retail industry, particularly in grocery or supermarket settings
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise teams effectively and motivate staff toward shared goals
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in bookkeeping, inventory management, and operational procedures
• Proficiency in POS systems, cash handling, and basic math for daily financial transactions
• Effective negotiation skills for vendor relations and purchasing negotiations
• Multilingual or bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse customer bases
• Experience in recruiting, interviewing, onboarding new employees, and managing payroll processes
• Knowledge of retail math including pricing strategies, sales analysis, and budgeting techniques
• Exceptional communication skills for staff training, customer interactions, and managerial reporting
• Familiarity with merchandising standards, stock stocking procedures, and inventory control techniques
• Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently using time management skills in a fast-paced environment
