As one of the nation's leading academic health systems, we provide a comprehensive continuum of care that includes primary and preventive services, specialty and complex care, virtual care, pharmacy, home health, eye care, health insurance, and more. With 12 hospitals and hundreds of ambulatory care locations, including former Ascension Southeast Michigan and Flint Region facilities, our growing network expands access to exceptional care in the communities we serve.

Headquartered in Detroit, Henry Ford Health is helping shape the future of healthcare through the transformative Future of Health: Detroit initiative, a $3 billion investment that is redefining our academic healthcare campus and advancing innovation, research, education, and community impact.

Our work is grounded in purpose, collaboration, and belonging. We empower team members to grow their careers, contribute innovative ideas, and make a meaningful difference every day. Whether you're caring for patients, supporting operations, conducting research, or driving new solutions, you'll be part of a team united by a shared mission: delivering exceptional care, advancing health outcomes, and building healthier communities for all.

As the Supervisor of Audit, Education, Analytics, & Technology, you'll be at the heart of driving documentation excellence across our organization. Partnering with physicians, coders, and clinical staff, you'll leverage your documentation and coding expertise to elevate the quality and completeness of medical record documentation across all outpatient settings—from clinic visits and outpatient surgical procedures to telemedicine and ancillary services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Documentation Excellence: Conduct concurrent, prospective, and retrospective evaluations of medical records, identifying opportunities to enhance documentation quality and drive measurable improvements across the organization.
  • Collaborate & Communicate: Build strong relationships with physicians and clinical staff, providing constructive feedback and guidance that translates into more accurate, complete documentation capturing the true clinical picture, severity of illness, and patient complexity.
  • Drive Coding Accuracy & Compliance: Apply your expertise in national coding guidelines (ICD-10, CPT), Hierarchical Condition Categories (HCC), and compliance standards to ensure documentation supports precise coding, physician profiling, and outcomes reporting.
  • Optimize Revenue Integrity: Identify and implement opportunities that enhance documentation completeness, directly supporting accurate reimbursement and organizational financial health.
  • Educate & Influence: Develop and deliver training initiatives that build clinical staff knowledge and foster a culture of documentation excellence, while influencing behaviors and processes across the organization.
  • Leverage Data & Analytics: Utilize data analytics to track performance metrics, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations that drive continuous improvement in documentation outcomes.
  • Lead Remote Teams: Effectively manage and mentor remote team members, fostering engagement and accountability while maintaining high performance standards.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors degree (Business Administration or Healthcare related field) or 5 years medical billing, coding, auditing, compliance, CDI, revenue integrity, healthcare/business financial or other revenue cycle experience, including at least 1-2 years lead role or supervisory experience may be considered in lieu of education requirement.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, disease processes, medical terminology, pharmacology, and coding systems.
  • Additional specialty coding certification or 5-7 years coding experience required.
  • Data analytics experience preferred.
  • Ability to build relationships, negotiate processes and outcomes, and influence behaviors.
  • Knowledge of health care fiscal management goals and strategies, including but not limited to trends and issues in health care reimbursement, coding guidelines, and case management.
  • Knowledge of electronic medical record systems and demonstrated proficiency of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work and lead remote employees.
  • Ability to withstand pressure of deadlines, multitask, prioritize, adapt to change, and receipt of work with variable requirements.
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed environment.
  • Ability to work independently, be resourceful, and possess strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to physicians and other clinical staff; be courteous, tactful, and cooperative.
  • Ability to use critical thinking and appropriate judgement throughout all phases of work.
