Cleaning Department Supervisor – Job Duties

• Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of all cleaning staff.
• Prepare and assign daily cleaning schedules and duties to cleaners.
• Ensure all assigned areas are cleaned, disinfected, and maintained to the required standard.
• Monitor staff attendance, punctuality, grooming, and overall work performance.
• Inspect offices, wards, laboratories, restrooms, corridors, and other facility areas regularly.
• Ensure proper use and handling of cleaning equipment, chemicals, and supplies.
• Maintain adequate stock of cleaning materials and report shortages to management promptly.
• Train new cleaning staff on proper cleaning procedures, hygiene standards, and workplace safety.
• Ensure proper segregation and disposal of waste in accordance with facility policies, particularly medical and hazardous waste in healthcare settings.
• Ensure cleaning staff comply with infection prevention and control procedures.
• Conduct routine quality checks and immediately address areas that do not meet required standards.
• Report damaged equipment, maintenance issues, hazards, spills, or other safety concerns to the appropriate department.
• Maintain records of cleaning schedules, staff duties, supplies, inspections, and incidents where required.
• Ensure cleaning equipment is properly cleaned, stored, and maintained after use.
• Coordinate deep-cleaning activities and special cleaning assignments when necessary.
• Address complaints regarding cleanliness and take corrective action promptly.
• Enforce departmental rules, policies, and standard operating procedures.
• Motivate staff and promote teamwork, discipline, professionalism, and good customer service.
• Prepare regular reports on departmental activities and staff performance for management.
• Perform any other duties assigned by management that relate to the effective operation of the cleaning department.
