Supervisor

About the role

The Supervisor supports the management of hatchery operations to ensure the successful production of shrimp post-larvae (PL). The responsibilities include overseeing production processes, collecting operational data, ensuring biosecurity control, and maintaining quality standards. The Supervisor works closely with the Farm Manager to develop and implement production strategies, as well as to resolve operational issues and challenges within the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Support the planning and management of daily hatchery operations to achieve production targets and ensure operations are conducted in accordance with established procedures and guidelines
• Oversee and provide training to hatchery technicians and staff involved in the production process
• Ensure that all personnel comply with safety, health, and sanitation procedures and coordinate work schedules and manage manpower effectively
• Ensure strict adherence to biosecurity protocols to prevent the introduction of diseases into the hatchery
• Monitor the quality of the shrimp larvae and adjust the production process as needed to meet quality standards
• Conduct regular inspections and record-keeping to track production progress and quality metrics
• Monitor the availability of necessary supplies and maintain inventory levels
• Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of equipment used in production processes
• Maintain accurate records of production data and prepare regular reports for the Farm Manager regarding production performance, quality issues, and staff activities
• Assist in evaluating and improving hatchery processes for increased efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Aquaculture, Marine Biology, Fisheries Science, or related field (preferred)

• Minimum two years' experience in aquaculture or a shrimp hatchery setting, especially in a supervisory or technical role

• Strong leadership and organizational skills

• Experience with shrimp or other aquatic species

• Knowledge of hatchery operations, aquatic animal husbandry, and water quality management is an advantage

• Additional certifications or training in hatchery management or shrimp production would be a plus
