Role Overview
The HVAC Install Superviosr is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of HVAC installation projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards. This role manages installation crews, provides hands-on guidance, and ensures compliance with manufacturer specifications, building codes, and safety regulations. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in HVAC installation, strong leadership and communication skills, and a proven ability to manage multiple projects and teams in a fast-paced environment.
What You Bring
The HVAC Install Supervisor leads day-to-day field installation operations to ensure residential HVAC systems are installed safely, correctly, efficiently, and to Lim-Ric standards. This hands-on leader supports installation crews, verifies job readiness and workmanship, resolves field challenges, coaches team members, and communicates job status to the HVAC Install Manager and office team. The position is accountable for consistent execution, strong customer experiences, and minimizing callbacks, rework, and avoidable job costs.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct daily field activities for HVAC install crews; confirm job assignments, staffing, materials, equipment, and site readiness before work begins.
- Conduct jobsite visits and quality inspections to verify installation workmanship, system commissioning, code compliance, permits, safety practices, and required documentation.
- Provide technical guidance on equipment placement, ductwork, airflow, refrigerant piping, condensate management, electrical coordination, startup, and troubleshooting.
- Coach installers and apprentices through hands-on training, performance feedback, and consistent installation standards; identify skill gaps and escalate performance concerns.
- Monitor job progress and labor hours; address delays, material shortages, scope discrepancies, and field obstacles promptly to protect schedule and gross profit.
- Coordinate with sales, installation coordinators, dispatch, purchasing, and other trades to clarify scopes and resolve change orders before unapproved work proceeds.
- Ensure job closeout is complete, including startup readings, photos, checklists, customer walkthroughs, system operation, and accurate ServiceTitan records.
- Respond promptly to installation callbacks, warranty issues, and customer concerns; investigate root causes and drive corrective action to prevent repeat failures.
- Enforce PPE, safe driving, ladder, electrical, refrigerant, and jobsite safety expectations; report hazards and incidents immediately.
- Provide regular updates to the HVAC Install Manager on crew performance, productivity, quality issues, staffing needs, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Installation quality: first-time-right completion, documented commissioning, and fewer callbacks or failed inspections.
- Productivity and profitability: jobs completed to scope and schedule with disciplined labor, material usage, and change-order communication.
- Customer experience: professional jobsites, proactive communication, and timely resolution of installation concerns.
- Team development and safety: consistent coaching, documented accountability, and adherence to safety requirements.
Qualifications
- Strong residential HVAC installation experience with demonstrated crew-lead or supervisory ability.
- Working knowledge of HVAC systems, airflow and duct design fundamentals, installation codes, manufacturer specifications, and commissioning practices.
- Ability to read proposals and installation scopes, diagnose field issues, prioritize multiple jobs, and communicate clearly with customers and internal teams.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company driving standards; EPA Section 608 certification preferred or required as applicable to assigned work.
- Comfort using mobile field software, checklists, and ServiceTitan or comparable service-management platforms.
