Overview

Join a leading international bank in Hong Kong as Supervisor – Sanctions Screening & Operations Control . You will support the Head of Operations Support & Control in overseeing sanctions-screening activities, supervising operational support processes and maintaining effective controls across the Bank’s operations platform.

About the Role

This opportunity is suited to an experienced banking operations professional with practical sanctions-screening expertise and a strong understanding of operational controls. Working closely with Operations, Compliance, Front Office and other stakeholders, you will coordinate daily activities, oversee transaction checks and escalations, and help ensure procedures remain aligned with regulatory requirements and business developments.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee transaction sanctions-screening activities, including sanctions-list management, system maintenance, alert review, false-positive clearance and timely escalation of potential matches.
• Review banking operations against applicable regulatory requirements, banking ordinances, internal policies and industry guidelines, identifying control gaps and supporting remediation.
• Supervise operational support activities, including audit confirmations, certificates of balance, bank reference letters, law-enforcement enquiries, document scanning and account administration.
• Coordinate department-wide governance and support matters, including fee and tariff reviews, industry surveys, regulatory questionnaires, business-continuity planning, training logistics and visitor or travel arrangements.
• Coordinate operational backup and provide processing support across teams when required, maintaining service continuity, transaction accuracy and adherence to established controls.
• Support operations-related projects from planning through implementation, assess regulatory updates and sanctions alerts, and coordinate changes to procedures, workflows and control measures.

Requirements

• University degree or relevant professional qualification in Banking, Finance, Business Administration, Law, Compliance or a related discipline.
• More than 10 years of hands-on banking operations experience, ideally covering multiple transaction products, end-to-end workflows and operational-control activities.
• Practical sanctions-screening experience, with the ability to assess potential matches, distinguish false positives from likely true hits and escalate cases appropriately.
• Sound knowledge of banking products, transaction flows, operational risks, market practices and applicable regulatory and internal-control requirements.
• Ability to oversee daily operational activities, coordinate priorities and maintain consistent processing quality and control discipline.
• Strong analytical judgement, documentation skills and follow-through, with the ability to translate regulatory guidance into practical procedures and control enhancements.
• Effective stakeholder-management skills and strong written and spoken English, with a collaborative approach to working across business and support functions.
