What they need
About Us
We make sheet-metal fabrications, CNC-machined components (3, 4 and 5-axis), welded structures, electrical control panels and complete machine assemblies in stainless steel, aluminium and carbon steel. Our customers in Europe, Australia and worldwide work in industrial machinery and automation, energy and renewables, mobility and EV, off-road and specialty vehicles, semiconductors and high-precision electronics, smart infrastructure and aerospace.
About the Role
We are looking for a Supplier Quality Development Engineer to make our supply base stronger. You will report to the Global Procurement Manager and work in the global team. You will find, assess and qualify new suppliers, and help our key suppliers improve their processes and quality. These include material suppliers, subcontract machining and fabrication shops, and outside processors for plating, anodising, coating and heat treatment. You will approve new parts and fix quality and delivery problems at the source, working closely with the Supplier Quality Engineer in our Quality team.
Key Responsibilities
Supplier Sourcing & Qualification
Work with the Purchasing team to find and assess new suppliers of raw material (stainless steel, aluminium and carbon steel), subcontract machining and fabrication, and outside processes such as zinc plating, anodising, powder coating and heat treatment.
Check each supplier's technical capability, process control, quality system, capacity and cost, including audits at the supplier's site.
Recommend supplier approval or suspension to the Supply Chain Manager.
Supplier Development
Run development projects with key suppliers to improve their process capability, quality and on-time delivery.
Make sure suppliers understand our requirements and our customers' requirements: drawings and GD&T, material and finish specifications, welding requirements, packaging and traceability.
Coordinate First Article / PPAP approval of new parts and outside processes with the Supplier Quality Engineer before production starts.
Fix supplier quality and delivery problems at the source using 8D, 5-Why and PFMEA, and make sure the fixes last.
Sourcing Cost & Risk
Do should-cost analysis of machined, fabricated and finished parts, and propose other suppliers or processes, including local sourcing within the EEC, to cut cost and supply risk.
Support RFQs and new customer programmes by checking whether suppliers have the capability and lead time.
Report supplier performance (PPM / NCRs, on-time delivery and savings) and development plans to the manager every month.
Qualifications — Essential
Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical or Materials Engineering, or a related field.
At least 3 years' experience in supplier development or supplier quality engineering (SQE) in the metal industry, such as sheet-metal fabrication, CNC machining, welding or metal finishing.
Sound knowledge of metal processes: laser cutting, bending, welding, machining and surface finishing (plating, anodising, powder coating).
Hands-on experience with supplier audits, PPAP / APQP and the 8D process.
Able to read engineering drawings, GD&T and welding symbols.
Working knowledge of ISO 9001 / ISO 14001.
Good spoken and written English.
Good with ERP systems, MS Office (especially Excel) and data analysis.
Able to travel to supplier sites.
Qualifications — Desirable
ISO 9001 Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor certification.
Experience in should-cost analysis, costing or RFQ estimation.
Experience developing suppliers for automotive (IATF 16949), aerospace or semiconductor-equipment customers.
What We Offer
Transport allowance, meal allowance and phone allowance
Provident fund — 7% employer contribution
Group health insurance (IPD + OPD)
